HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. — Oct. 24, 2017 — Gulfstream Park, a multi-faceted dining, shopping and entertainment destination located between Miami and Fort Lauderdale, actively engages with the local communities throughout the year with various events and fundraisers which includes the support of the local lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) community. Mirroring its support of the LGBTQ community, Gulfstream Park recently held its Taste of Equality Event on Oct. 11 for the third consecutive year.

The event raised almost $9,000 for Equality Florida, the largest civil rights organization dedicated to securing equal rights for Florida’s LGBTQ community with over 270,000 members statewide and over 75,000 in South Florida. Funds raised will benefit Equality Florida’s Safe and Healthy Schools Project, a pioneering new initiative to end LGBTQ bias in schools.

More than 150 guests registered to participate in the evening bringing friends and family to indulge in fabulous tasty bites and savory sips throughout the property. One hundred percent of the food and drink- was donated by Gulfstream Park restaurants Adena Grill & Wine Bar, Brio Tuscan Grille, Frankey’s Sports Bar, Il Gusto Ristorante Italiano, La Pizzeria, Le Macaron, Mijana Lebanese Cuisine, PlugIN Karaoke, Rok:Brgr, Strike 10 Bowling, Ten Palms, Texas de Brazil, Williams Sonoma, and Yard House.

Guests made their way around the village in lively groups stopping off at their favorite spots for sips and bites. Some of the favorites included the Black Pepper Shrimp at Brio Tuscan Grille, the Loaded Tater Tots at Rok:Brgr, the Ooey-Gooey Pumpkin Bars at Williams Sonoma and the Coconut Lime Ceviche at Adena Grill – just to name a few! Guests also brought the house down at PlugIN Karaoke, unleashing their inner Beyonce and Madonna.

Gigi Diaz from local radio station 93.9 MIA kept the crowd going as the emcee for the evening and had the crowd dancing with some great jams.

Guests also took part in on-site entertainment, shopping specials, raffles, spectacular prizes and more. Other participating businesses who helped to make the night a raging success included Crate & Barrel, Ideal Image, Pottery Barn, The Container Store, West Elm, and Z Gallerie. The raffle was a huge hit with guests as they cheered and even danced their way up to the stage to claim their winnings.

Most importantly, the Taste of Equality provides an opportunity to bring South Floridians together to celebrate and support the diversity of our community.

“The Taste of Equality keeps getting better and better,” said Paul Parme, attendee and owner of Miami’s Planet Lighting + Living. “The restaurant selection expands every year with more great-tasting food. My only regret is that I did not make it through a bite at every stop on my passport … I will definitely be back next year!”
