Master Social Media with Any Budget

Last week Durée & Company CEO Durée Ross participated in a panel at the 2018 Broward and Beyond Business Conference hosted by the Broward County’s Office of Economic & Small Business Development about social media. She shared tips on keeping up with the latest trends, allocating an effective budget, the best content to share and so much more. Many of the questions posed are things that all businesses – big or small – struggle to answer. D&Co is here to provide some answers!

A limited budget:

With a limited budget, drilling down to your main goals and preferred outcomes becomes even more important. Decide who your main audience is and target them first. Be highly specific in your outreach so that every dollar counts. Social media is becoming an increasingly ‘pay-to-play’ space, and strategic spending, even with a small budget, can exponentially increase the reach of your message.

Content:

Focus on delivering quality, value, consistency and authenticity to your audience. Every post should tie in to the story you are trying to tell and be a compelling piece of your social media plan. Always use images you own the rights to and make it a point to expand video use on all of your channels. Don’t be scared of video! Viewers look for authenticity and a video from your smartphone will get just as many (if not more) views than one created in a professional studio.

Growing your social presence:

Your social presence can grow with your brand. Just like you wouldn’t open ten stores at once, start with one or two social accounts. This will keep you from overextending and give you time to learn what your audience responds to on a smaller scale. Once you feel confident on one or two channels, expanding won’t seem overwhelming but just another way to reach a larger audience.

Trends and tools:

Digital and social media are almost interchangeable terms these days. While websites are still incredibly important to any business, social media is a place where your audience can not only learn about your brand – but also engage with it. The right tools can help you capitalize on this by monitoring activity and allowing you to measure outcomes. This data allows you to see what works and what doesn’t and should be a huge driver in creating and refining your social media strategy.

BCPS Parents Get a Taste of Cafeteria Menu Items at the School District’s Parent Food Show at Gator Run Elementary School in Weston on Oct. 18

SUNRISE, Fla. (Oct. 15, 2017) — On Oct. 18, parents of Broward County Public Schools students are invited to participate in the school district’s Parent Food Show at Gator Run Elementary School, located at 1101 Glades Parkway in Weston.

Parents will gather from 6–8 p.m. at the school, to taste featured menu items. Chef Poindexter will perform a cooking demonstration, emphasizing the importance of healthy and fun recipes, and that food needs to look enticing for students to try it.

He will also emphasize his “try it once rule,” to explain that students need to try everything at least once, so they can experience various types of foods and work a healthy and diverse diet into their daily routines.

“Our Parent Food Show affords parents a wonderful opportunity to sample and provide feedback on some of our current menu items, including various vegetarian dishes,” said Darlene Moppert, MS, RD, program manager and licensed nutritionist with the BCPS Food & Nutrition Services.

The USDA regulates what is served in schools, mandating the offering of appropriate servings of fruit, vegetables, whole grains, low fat milks and high quality proteins. BCPS registered dietitians review the nutritional stats for new recipes and products served to our students.
Broward County Schools Food and Nutrition Services encourages students to “Power Up!” with healthy and nutritious meals during the school day. The Broward County School District alone serves nearly 150,000 school lunches every day.

District Food and Nutrition Services administrators will be present at each food station to explain each item and its nutritional benefits and answer any questions.

MEDIA ARE INVITED TO COVER THE SECOND ANNUAL PARENT FOOD SHOW.

Lifestyle Magazine June 2017 Issue Photoshoot at Sabbia Beach

As publicists in an ever-changing media landscape, we are constantly thinking of new and unique ways to pitch client stories. At Fort Lauderdale PR firm Durée & Company, we pride ourselves on our unique pitch ideas that grab the attention of both local and national media.

Recently, group editor of Lifestyle Media Group, Kevin Kaminsky, was in our office to chat about clients and brainstorm ideas for coverage. Inspired by her extensive real estate experience, D&Co President Durée Ross pitched and secured a truly exceptional editorial piece.

As the creativity and idea came to fruition, it was decided that D&Co real estate client, Sabbia Beach, would be the site of a fashion photoshoot for Lifestyle Magazine’s June 2017 issue. Sabbia Beach is the only real estate project in Broward County to have a feature like this.

Before the sun was up, D&Co dynamo Caroline Williams, the Lifestyle Magazine team and a crew including photographers, stylists and a hair and make-up squad, met at Sabbia Beach to shoot former American’s Next Top Model contestant Alexandra Agro for the cover of the magazine. After a few beach shots just after the sun was up with Sabbia Beach as a backdrop, we grabbed some hard hats and headed to the construction zone for some more action, but not without a few wardrobe changes.

Alexandra posed amongst construction, leaning against concrete and sitting on unfinished frames of the building.  Sabbia Beach may be rising out of the sand, one floor at a time, but the unfinished project set the stage for a shoot unlike any other in Broward County.

Being on-site for the shoot was a true behind-the-scenes experience. Durée & Company was proud to work alongside Lifestyle Media Group and bring an idea that started in a conference room to pages in a magazine.

Be sure to grab a copy of Lifestyle Magazine’s June issue to get a look of the 6-page spread or click here.
