richard on panel

At award-winning PR firm Durée & Company, we are fortunate to work with a number of professionals who are experts in their industries. We are proud to announce that our very own Executive Vice President Richard Murry has been chosen to be a panel member for the networking luncheon Using the Power of Media to Market your Organization, hosted by the Miami-Dade Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce on July 27.

Richard will be in great company, as the luncheon will feature a number of top experts from the Miami Herald, iHeartMedia, Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau and NBC 6. The panel will examine how communication channels can be leveraged to impact visibility and awareness of an organization in the marketplace.

Richard shared with us his enthusiasm on the topic, remarking, “It’s exciting to see what a long way we’ve come from traditional communication channels to the power of social media, and how it allows us to engage directly with key constituents. I’m looking forward to speaking on the panel and sharing my insight on the influence of media to market organizations.”

Richard also stresses that traditional media still plays an important role today and that written communication, such as press releases and media alerts, serve as a foundation for all other communication channels. Richard also states that non-traditional media is playing an increasingly larger role in communication strategies through the power of social media, e-blasts, and digital marketing, as these methods provide fast and direct ways to engage with consumers.

Richard is a vital member of the Durée & Company team. With 30 years of experience in public relations and marketing, Richard brings great value to our team through his personalized approach and creative thinking. Richard serves actively on the board and committees of Pridelines Youth Services, Miami Beach Gay Pride, and many other organizations.

Miami Beach Gay Pride Hits New Milestone with More Than 130,000 Spectators

mbpride_parade_041016_srl_74Wow! This year’s Miami Beach Gay Pride celebrations set a new milestone, breaking attendance records with more than 130,000 spectators and over 100 vendors. There was even a sell-out number of parade entries, including more than 70 parade contingencies, 27 floats and over 2,500 participants.

At Durée & Company, we’re still talking about all the fun we had and celebrity friendships we made. Our team had a fantastic time supporting the LGBTQ community throughout the three-day festival.

This year’s Grand Marshal, iHeartRadio personality, Elvis Duran was joined by hip-hop superstar Iggy Azalea. They both led the Miami Beach Gay Pride Parade along Ocean Drive between 5th and 15th Streets. The parade started at noon, but the celebration continued throughout the day and evening with live performances from Jordin Sparks and Ultra Nate among others.

Since its inception eight years ago, Miami Beach Gay Pride has grown from a neighborhood gathering to an event on the global stage with national brand sponsors and A-list performers. An estimated 15,000 spectators turned out for the first Pride parade in 2009, an estimated 100,000 attended the 2014 event and this year the event reached another milestone, attracting more than 130,000 over the three-day celebration. Miami Beach Gay Pride now draws attendance not only from South Florida, but also from throughout the world. Miami Beach Gay Pride has grown into the largest, free LGBTQ event of the year in Miami Beach.
