Durée & Company’s Vice President Chrissy Cox is a transplant to South Florida from Chicago with more than 15 years of both agency and in-house experience working with lifestyle brands. For the second installment of our “Firsts” series, we sat down with Chrissy and gained some insight into her career and her most memorable moments.
First Client Event: “My first client event was a media brunch for journalists at SushiSamba Rio in Chicago. I made the mistake of inviting an anonymous journalist, and she gave me an earful over the phone when I called to follow up! I never made that mistake again.”
First National Hit: “One my most significant national hits was putting a client on the Today Show, for a summer grilling series. The chef I worked with did a segment on grilled Greek food. It was outside on the plaza, and the food styling was insane! I will never forget this guy who came out with a paintbrush to evenly “scatter” sea salt on the demonstration table.”
First PR Gig: “My first public relations job was at Wagstaff Worldwide in Chicago – a boutique hospitality-focused agency with a few offices across the U.S. It was my first agency experience and the valuable insight I learned there still stays with me today.”
First event: “It was actually during a summer internship during college! I was a brand management intern at Unilever HPC-USA and was assigned to the Salon Selectives hair care brand for its re-launch in the new millennium. I was in charge of selecting the party site. I was given a huge amount of responsibility and advised the internal team on a few site options, including Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art, where we ended up having a wonderfully successful launch event.”
First Bit of Advice Received: “A little confidence can go a long way! Always trust your gut and make sure to only put forth your best work.”
