Grab Your Cape and Fly on #NationalRideTheWindDay

iFly Ride With the Wind DayAs publicists, we are always on the lookout for a good “hook” to get our clients noticed. When we identified the hashtag holiday #NationalRideTheWindDay, we knew we landed a windfall for our clients at iFLY Indoor Skydiving.

With both the Fort Lauderdale and Orlando iFLY wind tunnels packed in our proverbial “parachute,” the dynamos at Fort Lauderdale PR firm Durée & Company floated the idea for iFLY to make an event out of #NationalRideTheWindDay and 25% off for first-time flyers on #NationalRideTheWindDay was born.

Created to celebrate the anniversary of the first man-powered flight, #NationalRideTheWindDay was intended to be some high-flying fun for the whole family. At iFLY, first-time flyers, aged three to 103, simply lay on a cushion of air while an IBA-certified IFLY instructor helps them control their bodies to experience true human flight in a safe, comfortable and fun environment – without having to jump out of an airplane.

iFLY Indoor Skydiving opened its very first facility in Orlando in 1999. iFLY Orlando spent the better part of nearly two decades as that city’s most popular non-theme park attraction. It was only fitting that when iFLY debuted its newest facility and the very first to feature dual, side-by-side flight chambers that it be in Orlando as well. iFLY Fort Lauderdale was the company’s 27th wind tunnel that opened in February 2017.

iFLY Indoor Skydiving was founded by a man who wanted to share his love of skydiving with his family. Durée & Company was founded by a woman who was born to share his story with the world. As a result of this perfect fit, on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, first-time flyers can enjoy 25% off the entire #NationalRideTheWindDay and become part of the eight million people iFLY has safely flown.

The South Florida area’s only indoor skydiving operation welcomes the young and the young-at-heart to experience the joy of flight

Ft. Lauderdale, FL. – Feb. 20, 2017 – iFLY, the world’s largest indoor skydiving operation, is now delivering the dream of flight to adventure seekers in South Florida.  The new location at 11690 West State Road 84 in Davie is the 27th iFLY facility in the U.S.

With iFLY, people of all ages and abilities can experience human flight in a safe, comfortable and fun environment – without having to jump out of an airplane. Each indoor skydiving facility is a marvel of engineering that replicates the sensation of freefall, creating conditions that allow people to fly on a smooth cushion of air. With the help of iFLY certified flight instructors, customers learn to fly, control their bodies in the air and experience true human flight.

“Our mission is to deliver the dream of flight to everybody, whether you’re age 3 or 103,” said Matt Ryan, iFLY President and COO. “Since 1998, more than eight million customers worldwide have experienced human flight at iFLY in a variety of ways: as a fun excursion with family and friends, a student on an educational Science, Technology and Math (S.T.E.M.) field trip, a professional skydiver or member of the military for training, a corporate customer looking for a unique team building activity. Thanks to iFLY, flying is finally available to everyone.”

To prepare for their flight experience, customers complete a training class guided by one of iFLY’s flight and safety instructors. They then are equipped with flight gear, including goggles, helmet and flight suit, and enter the flight chamber by leaning forward into a smooth cushion of air, with a flight instructor at their side.

All flight packages include training, flight gear, and flight time with an International Bodyflight Association (IBA) certified instructor. The IBA established the gold standard for training and safety standards for indoor skydiving instructors. All iFLY instructors meet or exceed IBA standards.
