Fort Lauderdale, FL (Nov. 2, 2017) – FLIPANY, Florida Introduces Physical Activity and Nutrition to Youth, was named one of three Lucky’s Markets’ nonprofit partners for this quarter’s “Bags for Change” campaign.
Starting November 5, 2017 and running through February 3, 2018, shoppers at Lucky’s Market Plantation and Lucky’s Market Coral Springs can donate one Wooden Dime to FLIPANY every time they bring their own bags to shop. At the end of the quarter, the Wooden Dimes are counted and the total is matched by Lucky’s Market. On average, approximately $1,500 can be raised per quarter per charity, said Lily Ritchie, regional marketing specialist with Lucky’s Market.
“The ‘Bags for Change’ program encourages sustainability with reusable bags,” said Ritchie. “Each time shoppers use a reusable bag, they have the option to donate a Wooden Dime to one of three-partner charities per quarter. This quarter it is FLIPANY, SOS Children’s Villages Florida and Supermoms of Broward.”
“We were thrilled to have been chosen to participate in the ‘Bags for Change’ program,” said Lynne Kunins, founder, president and CEO of FLIPANY. “Every little bit counts when it comes to raising money to support the many programs FLIPANY provides that feed and nutritionally support our community.”
When choosing nonprofit partners, Lucky’s Market looks for specific programs that support four criteria: healthy communities, youth and education, resilience and sustainability. FLIPANY was chosen for its Access to Healthy Foods program, which it plans to expand into 17 additional after-school programs throughout Broward and Miami-Dade Counties.
To support the “Bags for Change” program this quarter, FLIPANY will have staff and volunteers bag groceries periodically at each location to help spread the word. To volunteer, contact FLIPANY at (954) 636 -2388 or volunteer@flipany.org.
