Do you Yelp? You’d be surprised by how many people do. In the third quarter of 2014, Yelp had an average of 139 million unique visitors monthly, and its diehard reviewers contributed 67 million local reviews.
At Yelp.com, you get can honest, timely feedback on just about anything. People have something to say about their mechanics, drugstores, dentists, attractions and of course, restaurants. Some reviewers take Yelp so seriously that they form whole communities, critiquing businesses close to where they live and work.
Since we’re in the business of generating good word of mouth, the team at South Florida PR firm Durée & Company recognizes the power of Yelp, Yelpers and Yelping (yes, social media has its own vernacular). So, we harnessed that energy to the benefit of three of our clients: Gimme A Burger, QueensFort Capital’s Atlantic Surf Club and Daiza Restaurant Group’s The Alchemist Gastropub & Bar.
We encouraged our clients to participate, by creating local events just for Yelp.com, in an effort to get the Broward/Palm Beach community of reviewers to them some love.
And we’re so thrilled to report that it worked! Our clients placed on Yelp’s top events of 2014 in Fort Lauderdale:
- Gimme A Burger ranked in the top 3 for Community Manager Yelp Events for its Burger Month @ Gimme A Burger
- Atlantic Surf Club ranked in the top 3 for Community Manager Yelp Event for Order the Yelp Kickoff @ Atlantic Surf Club
- The Alchemist Gastropub & Bar was voted the 2nd best Elite Event of 2014 for Yelp Broward/Palm Beach’s Holiday Party @ Alchemist Gastropub. The Yelp Elite is a privileged group of Yelp users who get to attend parties and dinners at new local establishments. One becomes Elite by invitation only, based on the quality of his or her reviews.
Congratulations to our clients and kudos to the Yelp reviewers of Broward and Palm Beach Counties for selecting three of the best restaurants and bars in South Florida. Plus, a big thank you to Blue Arauz, senior community manager at Yelp, for helping us and our clients to orchestrate it all.
If you haven’t used Yelp yet, check it out and join in the creativity. (Fast Company writes about how cool and poetic the reviews have become here.) We hope to see more inspired reviewers chiming in on our clients’ events and offerings in 2015.
