Driving the Cannabis Conversation: Durée & Company’s Role in CLAB’s 7th Annual Conference & Expo

By October 21, 2024No Comments

Durée & Company was at the forefront of the Seventh Annual Cannabis LAB (Law, Accounting & Business) Conference and Expo, presented by DAG Facilities, held on October 14-15 at the Diplomat Resort in Hollywood, Florida. As sponsors and PR partners for this highly anticipated event, we played a crucial role in amplifying the message of advocacy, education and industry unity.

With Florida voters preparing to decide on Amendment 3—a pivotal ballot measure that could legalize recreational cannabis use across the state—on Nov. 5, the stakes couldn’t be higher.

This year’s Cannabis LAB Conference brought together cannabis industry leaders, business executives, celebrities, and politicians, providing a vital platform for discussing the future of cannabis in Florida. Durée & Company played an important role in shaping conversations around industry growth, the benefits of a regulated market, and the potential impact of cannabis legalization on Florida’s economy, public health, and social equity. Advocacy efforts including “Yes on 3” were included in discussions, along with other key topics shaping the future of the cannabis industry in the state.

One of the key moments of the event was the keynote speech delivered by Durée & Company’s client Mark Gemignani, CEO of DAG Facilities. In his keynote address, Gemignani emphasized the critical role that Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) plays in the future of the cannabis industry, highlighting DAG’s expertise in designing state-of-the-art facilities that maximize operational efficiency and support long-term growth. He stressed the importance of responsible innovation in creating opportunities for economic expansion and improving industry standards. Following his insightful remarks, Gemignani introduced Florida State Senator Lori Berman, who further elaborated on the significance of cannabis legalization and its far-reaching impact on Florida’s economy, public health and social equity.

In addition to the keynote, Durée Ross spoke on the panel “Marketing a Buzz Worthy Brand from a CEO’s Perspective,” alongside industry leaders including former Miami Dolphins and NFL player Ricky Williams of Highsman, Tom Grebenstein of Green Dragon, and Connie Woolsey of Cresco Labs. The panel was moderated by Todd Friedman of DAG Facilities. The panel emphasized the importance of authenticity in branding and PR strategies for canna companies, earning praise for its insightful discussions. Afterward, many attendees visited Durée & Company’s booth to further explore brand-building strategies and offered positive feedback on the session’s impact.

Our client Paula Savchenko, founder of Cannacore Group and PS Law Group, also spoke at the conference on the panel “From Bud Bars to Bevies – Innovators & Experts Discuss the Opportunities & Risks in Florida’s Emerging THC Consumption Market.” This discussion explored the potential opportunities that would arise with the legalization of cannabis beyond medical use, including THC-infused beverages and consumption lounges, reflecting the evolving preferences of modern cannabis consumers.

Durée & Company’s involvement extended to the exclusive CEO VIP Dinner on October 14, where top cannabis executives gathered for an intimate Moroccan-themed event at Hyde Beach House. The evening featured live belly dancers, exotic animal encounters including an alligator and python, and a 3D art display by renowned artist Mr. Trainwreck. Jarobi White, a founding member of the iconic Hip Hop group, A Tribe Called Quest, delivered a unique Hip Hop and Reggae performance, adding a vibrant cultural touch to the evening. The dinner fostered relaxed yet strategic discussions on the future of the cannabis industry, where Durée & Company played a key role in supporting thought leadership and ongoing collaboration.

As part of our comprehensive PR efforts, the Durée & Company team secured coverage from NBC6 South Florida on-site at the conference, along with additional pre-event and post-event media coverage from MMJDaily, South Florida Business & Wealth, Lifestyle Media Group, Miami Living and more. This strategic media presence helped promote the work we do for the industry, supporting our clients and advocating for responsible growth.

Durée & Company remains dedicated to supporting the cannabis industry and helping shape the future of cannabis legalization in Florida. Through our expert PR and marketing strategies, the firm continues to drive meaningful change and elevate the conversation around cannabis reform.
