Who/What:
Beginning during the 2022/23 school year, Broward County Public Schools Food and Nutrition Services (BCPSFNS) is pleased to announce it is now operating under the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) to provide breakfast and lunch meals at no cost for all students at 167 eligible Broward County Public schools.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) offers CEP to schools with students qualifying for SNAP, TANF or Extension of Benefits. BCPS has identified schools with 40% or more students qualifying for these programs which allows BCPSFNS to provide breakfast and lunch at no cost to all students at those schools. Families will not need to complete an application to participate.
The remaining 61 schools will resume free breakfast for all students, under the Universal Free Breakfast Program. Students may also qualify for free lunch meals or reduced-price lunch meals for $0.40 based on their eligibility.
How:
Parents do not need to complete an application to qualify for meals at the 167 schools operating under CEP.
To apply for Free or Reduced-Price Meals, families must complete an application at www.myschoolapps.com. Approved applications may help that student’s school receive additional funding to cover the cost of materials, supplies, staffing, professional development for teachers and staff, community outreach and much more. For assistance with completing applications for free or reduced-price meals, families can contact the Food and Nutrition Services Department at 754-321-0250.
