The awards shine a spotlight on organizations and individuals dedicated to making a powerful and positive impact in the South Florida community. This year, 2-1-1 Switchboard has named our following clients as finalists:

DCo - All Star Finalist Awards BGCFSF logoWe may be a little biased, but we believe Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade and Feeding South Florida’s Paco Vélez epitomize the spirit of compassion. Through a local network of approximately 350 nonprofit partner agencies, Feeding South Florida distributes almost 40 million pounds of food annually, serving 785,040 individuals in need of food assistance throughout Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties. Vélez’s many accomplishments and contributions to the community have earned him numerous awards, including South Florida Business Journal’s 2015 Ultimate CEO Award. Since joining Feeding South Florida in 2012, Vélez has infused the traditional non-profit compassion/culture with innovation, best practices, and fresh energy, creating a flurry of action … and results.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade, which recently received a $1 million donation from the MLB Urban Youth Foundation, presented by Alex Rodriguez, New York Yankees All-Star and Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade alumnus, and Major League Baseball Chief Operating Officer and Boys & Girls Clubs of America Board of Governors Member Tony Petitti, has been serving youth in the community since 1940. Club staffing, initiatives, and programs are designed to inspire and enable young people and provide them with the resources to succeed and share in the American Dream.

Join us in congratulating Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade and Feeding South Florida on being named finalists for these All-Star awards!
