The Big Apple. A concrete jungle featuring the best in architecture and design. NYCxDESIGN, New York City’s official celebration of global design, spanned the month of May, and celebrated all disciplines of design across multiple boroughs from Brooklyn to Manhattan. The dynamos at South Florida public relations firm Durée & Company took to New York City with our client, luxury Swiss watch brand Rado, which was the official watch sponsor of NYCxDESIGN.
As the event’s official watch sponsor, Rado opened a pop-up gallery exhibition at WantedDesign Manhattan, showcasing not only its innovative design and craftsmanship in timepieces, but also the winner and finalists of its second Rado Star Prize U.S. (vote here for your favorite finalist). The brand took a raw, blank, white space and transformed it into a gallery. The pop-up kicked off with a VIP opening evening with the gallery, filled with guests including friends of the brand, top media, members of the design community and more.
We at D&Co understand the time and effort that goes into an event. Event planning ranges from small, intimate dinners to galas and week-long pop-ups — and the preparation and coordination is different for each event. Events have many moving parts. Organization, delegating and “keeping your cool” are only a few of the skills required for a team during the planning stages. Everyone wants a great event, but no event will be successful without hard labor, long hours and sometimes a few fires to put out.
We pride ourselves on being an extension of our clients. We go where they need us and help in any capacity that we can. For this event, D&Co enlisted one of our favorite NYC caterers, Scoozi Events, to dish out kitschy bites, like Nutella pop-tarts and seared tuna on a rice cracker with the Rado logo. We also sourced and managed a leading photographer and videographer to capture the opening reception.
No event would be complete without media relations. D&Co invited and secured top media attendance for the preview including Hearst Digital Media, Robb Report, Surface and more. The team took the time to engage with all media, as they showed them around the space and spoke about key highlights of the exhibition.
When it comes to event management, we find a way to make things happen to drive success. And, we are never afraid to roll up our sleeves and get our hands dirty.
