Gala and Big Bang to Showcase New Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science
WHAT/WHO:
The Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science will host its stellar 13th Annual Galaxy Gala: Aqua Lumiere on Saturday, April 18th, 2015 at Hilton Miami Downtown. Since its inception, the Galaxy Gala has helped raise funds for and highlight the development of the new Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science, a world-class, state-of-the-art facility under construction in downtown Miami’s Museum Park.
Hosted by Chief Meteorologist John Morales of NBC 6 South Florida, the now famously dynamic evening celebrating science will play on the elements of light and water, with exciting technology and innovative features, including a water and light graffiti interactive experience by French artist Antonin Fourneau. The evening begins with a cocktail reception featuring live animals and an auction, followed by dining, dancing and entertainment from Drew T and DJ Blaze Carreras. As a special treat, Latin GRAMMY-nominated artist Debi Nova will take the stage for a special performance.
The evening is hosted by the Museum’s Board of Trustees, under the leadership of a Gala Committee comprised of community activists and philanthropists. Gala Co-Chairs this year are Shelly & Marko Dimitrijevic and Jennifer & Gabriel Montoya. The Honorary Chair is the Hector Family; Philanthropic Chairs are Trish & Dan Bell; Host Chairs are Alicia Cervera Lamadrid & Alberto Lamadrid and Presenting Chairs are: Chanin & Adam Carlin, Jacqueline Simkin and Barbara & Michael Weintraub.
“We’re looking forward to another spectacular Gala this year,” said Jennifer Montoya, Gala Co-Chair. “As construction on the new facility progresses, we can’t wait to celebrate and share its notable achievements with Gala attendees.”
During the Gala, the Museum will honor the following individuals and organizations to acknowledge those who have exhibited exceptional leadership and commitment to the development and building of the new Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science: The Visionary Award will be presented to The Batchelor Foundation, Founder George E. Batchelor; the Vanguard Award will be presented to Baptist Health South Florida; and the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science award will be presented to Julia Rea Bianchi.
“The Galaxy Gala is always an extraordinary celebration,” said Shelly Dimitrijevic, Gala Co-Chair. “It is an opportunity for all of us to come together in support of the amazing new Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science.”
Coinciding with the Galaxy Gala is the Museum’s Big Bang 2015: H2Glow after-party, hosted by the Frost Science Young Patrons. Targeted at young professionals ages 21-40, the Big Bang begins at 9:00 p.m. with a cocktail reception and at 11:00 p.m. the doors open to the main event where attendees join Gala guests and “crash” the party. The Gala then transforms into a nightlife-inspired event with DJ, dancing, special performances and cocktails.
All proceeds from both events directly benefit the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science and its programs.
