Our long-standing client, Rising Tide Car Wash, was selected to be featured as one of 10 stories of humanity on “Upstanders,” Starbucks’ first original content series. The series, which aims to inspire Americans to engage in acts of compassion, citizenship and civility, features various stories about ordinary people doing extraordinary things to create positive change in their communities.
Many may not realize that Starbucks is so much more than just coffee. The company’s dedication to the local community prompted it to create this series, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have Rising Tide chosen as an “Upstander.” With a primary mission to employ adults with autism, Rising Tide, located in Parkland, Florida, has 35 employees and is one of the largest employers of people with autism in the U.S. The business is expanding — it will open a second location in Margate, Florida in the coming months.
John D’Eri, CEO and co-founder of Rising Tide, will be in attendance at an event on Wednesday, Sept. 21 to discuss with Starbucks Executive Producer Rajiv Chandrasekaran how opening a car wash has changed his life and the lives of individuals with autism. Gathering with the local community, the Starbucks location at 3349 West Hillsboro Blvd. in Deerfield Beach, Florida will serve as the setting for this important discussion.
The series is written and produced by Chandrasekaran and Howard Schultz, Starbucks chairman and CEO. It will be distributed via the Starbucks mobile app, and online at Starbucks.com/Upstanders.
