Fort Lauderdale, Fla. — (Sept. 1, 2017) — “Ultimate Software & Salah Foundation Present the La Croix, South Florida Ford & Florida Panthers Foundation Walk Like MADD & MADD Dash Fort Lauderdale 5K Brought to You by ADT and Allegiance Crane” celebrated another stellar year of fundraising with a wrap party hosted by Greenspoon Marder Law. The event, which took place at Greenspoon Marder’s Fort Lauderdale law office on August 30, 2017, celebrated raising more than $300,000 this year, bringing the seven-year total to over $1.25 million under the auspices of Volunteer Chairperson and National Board Member Heather Geronemus.
This year, MADD honored Jim Robertson of Allegiance Crane as honorary chair. He has also agreed to return next year as the honorary chair for 2018.
The top fundraisers for 2017 were honored at the celebration including Ultimate Software, the top corporate team (Top Fundraiser – Tyrone Arucas); Grateful Survivors, the top friends and family team (Top Fundraisers – Penny & Keith Grumer); Myles & Tyler Gazes, the top youth fundraisers, and Florida Highway Patrol, the top law enforcement fundraiser (Top Fundraiser – Major Robert Chandler).
At the wrap party, guests enjoyed bites courtesy of Corporate Champion Sponsor Greenspoon Marder Law and “mock-tails” provided by Title Sponsor La Croix Water. Additional sponsors included Signature Sponsors Ultimate Software and Salah Foundation; Title Sponsors South Florida Ford and Florida Panthers Foundation; Presenting Sponsors Allegiance Crane and ADT Always Cares; and Corporate Champion Sponsors Broward Sheriff’s Foundation, Broward Sheriff’s Office, Broward Sheriff’s Advisory Council, Festival Flea Market, SunTrust, YellowCab and UPS among others.
“I want to thank and congratulate each and every one of you for making it possible for us to be the most successful MADD fundraiser in the country,” said Geronemus. “I got to this moment not by choice, but by necessity because getting that call about losing a family member to drunk driving is something I have to stop.
I don’t just see a community sending over $300,000 to MADD. I see 300,000 choices where we have taken a stand against drunk and impaired driving to say not on my watch, not this time.”
The 8th Annual Walk Like MADD & MADD Dash Fort Lauderdale 5K is scheduled for Sunday, April 29, 2018. Next year’s event will be chaired by Geronemus and Rachel Perz, general manager of Brio Tuscan Grille. Recommitted sponsors include Ultimate Software, La Croix, Broward College, David Geronemus and Adams Benefit.
