Free Card Serves as a Reminder to Speak with an Attorney
Prior to Any Police Questioning

West Palm Beach, Fla. – (March 24, 2015) – Reflecting his passion for the principle that everyone in the U.S. is innocent until proven guilty, Richard Tendler, Esq. of the Law Offices of Richard Tendler in West Palm Beach and Boca Raton has created a free “American Rights Card.” With the card, Tendler is emphasizing the importance of preserving the public’s constitutional rights. If the police believe someone is a suspect, that person has every right not to speak to the police until he or she speaks with an attorney.

“It’s a natural human reaction to want to tell people everything – even the police. It is our constitutional right in this country to remain silent and speak to an attorney before answering any questions,” said Tendler. “In the heat of the moment, many people forget that.”

The “American Rights Card,” which also serves as Tendler’s business card, encourages users to call 844-9-RIGHTS (Tendler’s office) to confirm their rights. The card, which looks and feels like a credit card, can easily be placed in a wallet or pocket. The “American Rights Card” is better than an American Express card and it’s priceless!

The card states the principles of various constitutional rights including:

  • The right to an attorney and to remain silent
  • The right to not have any questions asked or any comments made to the suspect about this decision
  • The right to prohibit unreasonable searches and seizures of the suspect, his or her belongings, automobile, home, and any property in his/her possession.
  • The suspect’s right to leave if he/she is not presently under arrest or under investigatory detention

“Many people may feel ashamed when the police approach them. This causes them to automatically start talking and forget their rights,” said Tendler. “Those who seek out an attorney’s help before making any statements have a distinct advantage. An attorney can guide a suspect, and help to possibly prove that there is no case against the suspect.”

Anyone requesting a card will be mailed/given one. Tendler will also be handing out the cards at his speaking engagements and charity events.
