Yes, public relations demands long hours, constant strategizing, crazy creativity, flexibility, team management, an extremely reliable smartphone and a great wardrobe. It’s a tough job.

But then there are the perks…

Like sampling the culinary experiments of world-renowned chefs and up-and-coming cooks in a gorgeous venue, surrounded by fun people. Oh, and it all supports a great cause, like ARC Broward, which provides opportunities for people with disabilities and other life challenges to realize their full potential.

On March 7, The Wasie Foundation will present Delish 2014, a cooking competition that showcases the talents of ARC Broward Culinary Institute students, along with samples of great food created by the chefs of Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort. The event will be held at the resort from 7–10 p.m. and will feature a silent auction, live entertainment, dancing, cocktails and amazing South Florida views.

Celebrity chef Michelle Bernstein returns as honorary chair, and she will judge the students’ entrees. This year’s Delish theme, “Fire & Ice,” will challenge chefs to experiment with different techniques to create the perfect hot and cold culinary experiences.

Jen Klaassens and Heather Geronemus are serving as the event chairs (we love them!).

ARC Broward is a great cause that builds self-sufficiency, self-empowerment and self-esteem. All proceeds from the event will support critically needed services for children and adults with developmental disabilities and those with various other life challenges. ARC Broward operates three “mission-based” enterprises, including the ARC Broward Learning Institute, ARC Broward Culinary Institute and ARC Broward Electronics Recycling Services, and provides services through 21 programs in 10 locations across Broward County.

Guests and supporters like us will also be able to taste the competing dishes. We like to call it “charitable eating.” We have to eat, right?

Join us, enjoy the evening, and support ARC Broward. See you there.
