How The Dynamos Are Making The Most Of Social Distancing

By April 13, 2020May 6th, 2020No Comments

As the world continues to social distance in an attempt to flatten the coronavirus (COVID-19) curve, PR professionals are being tasked with activating crisis strategies, managing internal and external communication, and adjusting to a new normal.

Here at Fort Lauderdale and Aspen-based public relations agency Durée & Company, our new normal may not include face-to-face interactions, but we are still finding ways to build and maintain relationships, amplify our creativity, and boost company morale as we stop the spread.

Here, we’re sharing how we’re able to also spin some positivity from the effects of social distancing.

Getting Creative.

Did you notice our new temporary and socially distant logo? Social distancing – reducing non-essential contact with others and maintaining a distance of six feet from other people – is one of the key strategies that will slow the spread of the novel coronavirus. We had fun incorporating this concept directly into our logo, but also realize that this simple gesture will serve as an important reminder for all to see. And knowing that so many people are engaging in even more screen time, the opportunity to make a visual impact is important!

Our team has also found creative ways to further engage fans on social media, including interactive games, online recipes, and more. Among the activities online, we’ve created a virtual cookbook called the “Dynamo Dish,” as well as Instagram games such as “get to know me using gifs” and a fan favorite, “social distancing BINGO!”

Mastering Technology.

At Durée & Company, we’ve taken our conference calls to Zoom virtual meetings where we can enjoy face time with our clients as well as our own internal team. We are also able to utilize FaceTime, UberConference, Skype, and other platforms as solutions for client meetings, industry webinars, and interview opportunities. Mastering this technology has allowed us to provide solutions to clients so they experience fewer interruptions to their business and can partake in opportunities with media, their local community and their online followings.

Advising Clients.

With the unique challenges of COVID-19 measures, we’ve also taken many of our clients’ social media campaigns and e-marketing to the next level. Right now, getting the word out, through earned media, social media, and e-mail blasts, is all of great benefit while people are forced to stay home and most likely glued to their screens. (Email marketing campaigns have an extremely high open rate right now!) We are making sure all of our clients’ information is up to date, as we amp up their social media content, brand guidelines, email marketing, and other proactive initiatives. We are making sure our clients are using this time to post pertinent content that keeps their business top of mind.

Implementing Solutions.

Right now, COVID-19 is the most prominent topic on everyone’s minds, so ask yourself: How can I purposefully lend to this conversation? As everyone’s daily lives are changing, media coverage has also changed from writing about the virus itself to what this means for virtually every aspect of life. It’s our job to uncover angles for our clients. While most outlets are still prioritizing COVID-19, we are looking ahead to how our clients and their businesses will be affected in the long term. From here, we can map out a plan that keeps their business relevant and thriving.

Although a few of our clients, including Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade, Bonnet House and the Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami, and the partners at the Riverwalk Arts & Entertainment District had to close their physical doors, that didn’t mean we stopped our media pitching. We promoted their different virtual options including virtual after school activities, museum tours, art projects for kids and more to get the word out to the community and share what is available to them while their members are quarantined.

Having Fun.

And while this time is certainly unprecedented and extremely challenging, we felt there was still some room for fun. Click below to download our virtual games, then tag your friends to join in on the fun! Be sure to follow us on social media with our hashtag #DynamosWFH for the latest virtual games, work from home tips, additional recipes, and more.
