Valley View, an independent, nonprofit health system based in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, offering the most comprehensive care in the Valley, is pleased to welcome Orthopedic Surgeon Daniel O’Connor, MD to ValleyOrtho, part of the Valley View family. Dr. O’Connor specializes in joint replacement and adult joint reconstruction.

Dr. O’Connor joins the ValleyOrtho team at Valley View, comprised of Noel Armstrong, DPM; Christopher George, MD; Michael Grillot, MD; Ferdinand “Tito” Liotta, MD; Tomas Pevny, MD; Michael Potter, MD; and Mark Purnell, MD. Dr. O’Connor will see patients out of Valley View in Glenwood Springs, Eagle HealthCare, Silt HealthCare, Willits HealthCare, and ValleyOrtho Aspen. The team’s areas of expertise include knee, hip, shoulder, sports medicine, joint replacement and revisions, hand, wrist and elbow.

As a specialist in joint replacement and adult reconstruction, Dr. O’Connor has extensive experience in robotic assisted total hip and total knee arthroplasty, muscle-sparing anterior and posterior approach total hip arthroplasty, revision hip and knee arthroplasty, extensor mechanism reconstruction, local rotation flap coverage, and mega prosthesis reconstruction. Dr. O’Connor is also accomplished in the orthopedic treatment of fractures, knee and shoulder arthroscopy, ACL reconstruction, infection management, and arthritis management.

Dr. O’Connor joins ValleyOrtho from the University of Chicago, where he completed a fellowship in joint reconstruction after completing medical school at the University of California Davis. His path to medicine was not always linear. After time working as a volunteer wildland firefighter, he decided to pursue medicine.

“I’m looking forward to joining the ValleyOrtho team and having the opportunity to serve the people of the Roaring Fork community,” said Dr. O’Connor. “Most of my patients tend to wear out their bodies right as they have the time to enjoy their lives more. I like to help them get ready for and walk through that stage. When people have an active mindset and are interested in their own recovery, they are interesting to treat. Not to mention more successful in their healing and performance.”

In his free time, Dr. O’Connor enjoys fly fishing, hiking, skiing, reading, team sports and spending time outdoors with his family. Additionally, he and his family have a passion for community service.

“Dr. O’Connor embodies all the qualities of an orthopedic surgeon demanded by the exacting standards of the ValleyOrthofamily,” said Ferdinand “Tito” Liotta, MD, head of orthopedic services at Valley View. “Because of his extensive experience and training in complex joint replacement and reconstruction, coupled with his commitment to his patients and his desire to become an outstanding member of our community, he will be the perfect fit to continue ValleyOrtho’s mission to offer the most innovative and quality-focused, comprehensive musculoskeletal care in the Roaring Fork Valley and beyond.”

Dr. O’Connor is now welcoming appointments at ValleyOrtho. To schedule an appointment with ValleyOrtho, call 970.384.7140. For more information, visit vvorthocare.org.
