6 Tips for Rocking Your Company Holiday Party

tips for holiday parties

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! With the holiday season quickly approaching, it’s time to start thinking of your company holiday party. When organizing the party, you’re going to want an entertaining, high-quality, well-run soiree to celebrate both the holiday season and a year of your company’s success. Here at Aspen and Fort Lauderdale-based public relations agency Durée & Company, no party is too big or too small and we’re here to share 6 tips for rocking your event around the holidays.

1.  Choose Your Venue Wisely

Will it be a sit-down dinner or a buffet? Will you need a private room or host in an open casual setting? It’s often difficult to find a unique venue, especially around the holidays while everyone else is trying to do the same. Give yourself enough time to research a venue that can hold your party size, and have a few possible dates in mind. Make sure to find a venue that will fit not only all your guests, but all the entertainment, rental furniture, or any other details that you want to include. It’s also important to think about parking and transportation, loading docks for deliveries and vendors, and more.

2. Pick a Theme

Will it be an “Ugly Sweater Party” a “Christmas Pajama Gathering” or a “Ho Ho Hoe-Down”? A theme is important as it embodies the purpose of the event, sets the tone and creates buzz and excitement. When choosing a theme, consider why you’re hosting the event, and if it’s simple to correlate food, music, libations, décor, and activities around it.

3. Selecting your Activations or Entertainment

Ask yourself a few questions. Does your team want to cut a rug on the dance floor? Are you having a DJ? A band? Does your venue let you choose your own playlist and pipe through their music system? Is there an activation or activity at your event? Having some sort of game, like Secret Santa or White Elephant, entertainment or an ice breaker will increase conversation, laughter, and bonding.

4. Take Photos & Socialize

Say “cheese!” An end of year event is the perfect way to up your social media game and showcase your business, highlight your company morale, and show off your brand. Create a customized hashtag for your event and encourage your colleagues to use it when sharing photos while tagging your company’s social media channels. Need a photo booth or photographer? We have you covered!

5. Give the Gift of Swag

Inspire your colleagues to make your brand a part of their life and take pride in who they work for. Create a gift bag with items your guests will love with your logo on it! Trends in merchandising change constantly, and there are many innovative options for brands to create unique, strategic merchandise. From selfie lights to wireless headphones, the options are endless. At D&Co, we source our own promo items (at a really good price) and will help you take your swag to the next level (or two!).
