Making the Most of Your Social Media

In today’s world, social media continues to play a larger role each year, each month – each day, it seems. To keep up with the times, the D&Co dynamos at Fort Lauderdale public relations firm Durée & Company make sure to take advantage of all the newest social media features – from Facebook live to Instagram stories.

  • Facebook Live and Instagram Live Video – Live video content is an excellent way to showcase clients, whether it be event coverage or a live cooking demo. Hosting a live segment will engage viewers with companies and products, and PR specialists are essential for executing these videos smoothly and effectively.
  • Google+ Events – The platform has brought back its event section to promote user involvement and engagement. This is the perfect avenue to highlight and promote a client’s upcoming event, whether it’s a highly anticipated launch party at the hottest spot in town or a fun happy hour special at a local restaurant.
  • Snapchat – As new snapchat filters are created, we are experimenting with some our favorites. Almost every day there is as new snapchat filter added or an old one returns. Technology also allows users to create their own snapchat geofilter. Customized geofilters designed to incorporate company logos and mascots for a special event are an excellent way to leverage brand recognition.
  • Snap Map – This new Snapchat feature was created to get snapchat users to meet up with friends in real life rather than just watching each other’s daily routine through the app. Do you ever wonder where your friends are snapping from during their summer travels? Well, Snap Map now shares your current location, which appears to all contacts and friends on a map and continuously updates as you travel.
  • Instagram Stories – This feature is a hybrid that combines the fun and spontaneity of Snapchat stories with the execution and visual emphasis of Instagram photos. Instagram stories provide the perfect platform to showcase behind-the-scenes, exclusive content to promote a client’s event, new product, special deal – the list is endless.
  • Instagram and Facebook filters – The world of filters evolves every day. Facebook has recently introduced a ton of new filters and augmented reality masks, in addition to many stylistic filters that can cast unique lighting or hues in videos. Instagram too has launched new selfie filters that may remind many users of those pioneered by Snapchat.

Boo! Channel Your Inner Witch with D&Co Tips for a Wicked Halloween

It happens every year. Summer moves quickly, fall picks up with client events, our schedules fill up and we suddenly realize: Halloween is just around the corner. Here we are, mid-October, and we have not the slightest clue what any of us are wearing for Halloween! How will we decorate our homes? What festivities will we attend? Lucky for you, the team at award-winning South Florida PR firm Durée & Company is here to help our friends and family have a spooktacular celebration.

Here are just a few of our tips for getting into the Halloween spirit:

  1. Attend a Halloween-themed event – The city of Pembroke Pines is hosting the 5th annual Ghoulish Guardians Pumpkin Carving/Design on Saturday, Oct. 17. This is a free event with encouraged donations benefiting Children’s Harbor, a Pembroke Pines-based child welfare organization. Kids of all ages are welcome to attend, and prizes are up for grabs! For additional information, visit ppines.com/ArtsforCommunityEngagement.
  2. Plan your costume – While Halloween costume stores pop up everywhere this time of the year, that isn’t your only option. Try designing your own outfit using items from your closet and craft drawer!
  3. Get your pumpkins – Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade is hosting its annual pumpkin patch seven days a week, now through Halloween at the Hank Kline Club.
  4. Decorate your home – One of our favorite social media platforms, Pinterest, is here to guide you through the ins and outs of Halloween decorations. All you have to do is search the site using generic keywords and phrases such as “Halloween decorations,” “spooky houses” and “haunted décor,” just to name a few.
  5. CupcakesBake a yummy treat – The D&Co team is filled with foodies, so this holiday should be no different! Here are 15 must-make recipes from AOL. Not skilled in the kitchen? Consider outsourcing dessert by ordering delicious treats like the cupcakes from Sweet Guilt by Angelica.
  6. Give back to the community – On Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015, dine at BRIO Tuscan Grille in Plantation. Ten percent of all the delicious food and non-alcoholic drinks will support MADD Fort Lauderdale’s 2016 Walk Like MADD & MADD Dash 5K.

Now cast your spells, match your pumps to your broom and try not to hurt your teeth on too much candy this Halloween!
